First, thank you to the parents, students, staff, and other friends of Gamble Montessori that helped make the AMS accreditation visit a success. Our visitors offered much praise for the work we are doing at Gamble to provide a nurturing Montessori environment in which students can learn to manage their own learning within appropriate boundaries. Now we wait. They send a written report to the American Montessori Society who reviews it and then makes a final determination regarding accreditation. You will know just as soon as we know whether we become only the second public school in the nation to earn this recognition. The journey so far has been challenging and rewarding. The committee did share 6 commendations and 6 recommendations that will be included in our social media posts this week - follow us on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram for more details.
This week marks the start of state testing at Gamble Montessori. On Tuesday and Wednesday most of our students will be taking the AIR test for English Language Arts, one of the Ohio State test for grade level proficiency and graduation. These tests start promptly each morning, so it is important that your child gets a good night's sleep, a healthy breakfast, and then to school on time and in class by 8:45. Students who arrive after testing has started will be required to make the test up on Thursday or Friday. The test cannot be administered after Friday, so attendance is crucial and may affect your child's graduation. As always, a nutritious breakfast will be available for our students each morning in the cafeteria.
After a trial run during intersession and some problem-solving with the district, regular searches will begin for all students starting Thursday, April 19th. Students will be asked to step through a metal detector each day, and bags will be checked. Students should carefully plan for passage through the detectors each morning, making sure that if they have items likely to set off the detectors they are easily removed from their pockets are they are already in their bookbags. Any items forbidden by district policy will be confiscated. This does not include student phones and electronic devices which students may have at school, but which must be off and away during the school day. Please help your child be ready for this each morning so we can work to make this flow smoothly and get everyone to class on time.
Our Spring Concert is on Thursday, April 19th, 2018 in the Gamble Auditorium. Choir is to arrive at 6:15PM in the auditorium, Wind Band is to meet at 6:30PM in the Band Room and Steel Band is to be in their seats at 6:45PM
