School Safety and Security
Late last week, yet another school was visited by unimaginable violence and tragedy. Our superintendent on Friday sent home a letter outlining the steps we have taken as a district to address issues of safety and security. As I listened to the tragic news, I was struck by the concern of one particular parent who could not recall whether he had told his child he loved her that morning. Today and every day, tell your child you love them, and ask them to look out for others. Make this your habit. I know that we are stronger and safer when we are in community together - when we listen to each other, look out for each other, and when we let each other know we care. Encourage your child to find peaceful resolution to their conflicts, and be open to challenging conversations. Children will build their world with the tools we give them. Let's give them the tools of peace.

Book Lending Libraries
Have you seen our 7 new book lending libraries? They look great and are being used, but we still need to get more books to be able to fill all 7 of the libraries. We appreciate all of the book donations that we have received thus far, but we need more. Books can be dropped off in the office. The lending libraries are a communal operation where students can take and leave books to read or use throughout the year.
