Community Conversation About Race and Equity
Parents, I invite you to join us in an important community conversation about race and equity taking place over 5 nights at Gamble second semester. We will look at Gamble's student survey and discipline results, as well as at local and national trends, in a forum designed to empower our students to lead us through finding and solving problems related to disproportionate discipline rates. Racial and economic differences can sometimes hinder our ability to function as a true community. We intend to address these differences and take steps toward creating a more inclusive and nurturing experience for all students at Gamble. Contact Mr. Jose to join, or read the "Student Leadership on Race and Equity" flyer for more information.
We Need Your Perspective through the Parent Survey
Thank you to those who have already filled out the parent survey on Montessori practices at Gamble. As many of you know, Gamble Montessori has embarked on an ambitious plan to earn accreditation from the American Montessori Society in partnership with our sister school Clark. Our goal is to become only the second public high school in America to earn that prestigious and challenging accreditation from AMS. For the past year and a half we have dedicated our staff meetings and professional development days to affirming and strengthening our Montessori practices. We need your perspective on our work by filling out a survey on your experience with Gamble Montessori. This survey has a few multiple choice questions, and lots of chances to give your perspective and offer suggestions, so it is as long or as short as you want it to be. I hope you will set aside 15 minutes and give us your thoughts and impressions on our school. Please follow this link: https://goo.gl/forms/a9HEfq0J9Agu4rb83

Gators Give Back
Gators Give Back community service program updates: 10th graders should have completed their community service reflection in Schoology (the 9th grade assignment) by January 2. 11th graders should have completed their advocacy letter to a congress person about a specific community issue (the 10th grade assignment) by January 2nd. Time will be given in the December 12th advisory to complete these assignments. Students who have not completed the work by the indicated date will be given the gift of additional time after school on Friday January 5th.
Ohio Attendance Law
Please find attached a CPS parent notice letter regarding the new attendance law in Ohio. A noteworthy change in the law is that attendance is now measured in hours rather than days of absence, so students who are frequently tardy may face consequences from the school and from the courts. Your efforts to get your child here on time every day are appreciated. The Board of Education has asked that this information be shared with all CPS families.
Cincinnati Sister City Program
This June Sam Dwyer will join a delegation of Cincinnati students who attend New Taipei City as part of the Cincinnati Sister City Program. Thanks to everyone at Gamble who has hosted students, attended meetings, and made space in their lives for the students who visit us from New Taipei City each year.
High School Semester Exams
High school semester exams begin next week. Please help your child design a study schedule to review for these tests as they comprise a significant portion of students’ semester grades.
As always, there are lots of ways to get involved at Gamble Montessori, where we make a commitment to learning every day, and we will see you there.
