Taylor Porter has been named the new principal of James N. Gamble Montessori High School.
Porter will be instrumental in overseeing the move from Gamble’s current site at Felicity Place to the Westwood neighborhood, location of the former Mercy High School.
The district purchased the building in 2018. Superintendent Laura Mitchell recently recommended moving Gamble High School to this site. Renovations are currently underway. The school is slated to open in August.
"I’m honored to be given the opportunity to lead this prestigious school. This is a dream come true not only for my wife and I, but for my entire family. I believe Gamble Montessori High School has high expectations and represents a proud community," Porter said.
"I look forward to working hard, meeting those expectations and engaging families and teachers on a daily basis. Gamble Montessori High School is a jewel and should be viewed as a beacon of pride for the entire community," Porter added.
He has been working in the Westerville school district near Columbus as an assistant principal since 2017. Prior to that, Porter was an assistant principal at Dayton Public Schools for one year. During the 2015-2016 school year, he was a principal intern for the BRIGHT New Leaders for Ohio Schools located in Middletown, Ohio.
Porter earned as a bachelor’s degree from the University of Cincinnati and master’s degree from The Ohio State University.
